Hugelkultur is a German word that means "hill culture". The bed starts with a base of logs, branches and twigs. Then other layers are added such as grass clippings, hay, straw, leaves, manure, compost and finally top soil.
Nourishing body and mind has been on my list for these past few years. Life isn't possible otherwise.
My students and workshop participants often ask with which "R" I started my #zerowastejourney and it was #rethink ....
One of my first #bodylotion recipes came from @smarticularnet and I have been adjusting it ever since. In #bangkok I had access to #beeswax from a local community in the north, but in the last 2 years I have been learning about the process of making beeswax and I have been desperately looking for an alternative. For those who don't know @peta has written about the process farmers use to make the wax is "obtained by melting a honeycomb with boiling water and then straining and cooling it. It is not unusual for farmers at larger bee farms to cut off the queen bee’s wings so that she cannot leave the colony or to have her artificially inseminated on a bee-sized version of the factory-farm “rape rack.” Now, I am looking at virgin wax and soybean wax, hence the later is also attached to problems.
