Really enjoyed being part of this year’s UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific) Discovery Camp in Bangkok, Thailand. We started the session with some breathing techniques to calm the mind and help students to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Centenary Park near Chulalongkorn University. They then had a chance to walk around the park enjoying nature while discussing what living a sustainable life while being in sync with a green environment would mean to them. It was interesting to hear that for many returning to their home countries, walking in nature is actually a special treat. Many of the cities in South-East Asia have lost a lot of green spaces due to the rapid development. It’s actually quite concerning!
In the afternoon, I shared my own personal story about aiming a #zerowaste lifestyle in Bangkok. After the story-telling session students had to think how they could make changes in their own lives when they return home. We finished the day with students making their own #reusable #bags, which they really enjoyed. This day showed me again the importance of education!
